Zeng Nianrong《Talk about the art festival, about the ecology of Art》 LECTURE (CN)

The artist infoZeng Nianrong, Chairman of the Hongkong theater, Director of Hongkong Center for contemporary culture, the German Federal cross ribbon medal winner. Was born in Shanghai in 1943, at the age of 5 and moved to Hongkong with his family. Has enrolled in the University of California at Berkeley Department of architecture American and Research Institute of Columbia University, and obtained the masters degree in city planning and city design. 1979 began to return to Hong Kong, artistic creation, participate in various art activities.From the beginning of 1985. The art director Danny has become "the Zunitwenty face", as a director, screenwriter, stage design, director of theDepartment of more than 100 stage production, closely combined with social and political problems in the drama will culture traditional Chinese elementsand the present, always maintain a strong focus on social affairs.Works: "journey in China" series, "two or three things" series, "one hundred years of solitude" series, "Chinese culture" series of deep structure.

Franco Dragone （CIRQUE DU SOLEIL） Lecture

The Artist Introduction:Dragone was born in Cairano, Italy, and moved to La Louvière, Belgium at age seven. In the 1970s, he studied theatre at the Belgian Royal Conservatory of Mons. His earliest theatrical work was explicitly political, working as a director of theatre and film in the mode of the commedia dellarte dramatist Dario Fo. The theatre works he helped create expressed social situations, interpreting true stories of the homeless, drug addicts and prison inmates, and casting the non-actors that shared their stories to perform in the shows. In the 1980s Dragone came to Montreal, Canada, where Guy Caron, director of the National Circus School, invited him to conduct workshops with the students and teachers at his school. Later, Dragone created, directed and produced a show for the end of the school year. Guy Laliberté saw one of these performances in 1984, the same year he formed Cirque du Soleil. In 1985, Laliberté sought out Guy Caron to join Cirque du Soleil. Caron, in turn, asked Dragone to join as a creator. In 1999, Dragone directed the music video for Lara Fabians song "Adagio". In 2005, Dragone debuted his fourth production on the Las Vegas Strip with the opening of Le Rêve at the Wynn Las Vegas. Dragone most recently directed a Macau-based show entitled The House of Dancing Water, which bills itself as the worlds largest permanent water-based show. On March 29, 2012 he was awarded the doctor honoris causa degree for general merits by the University of Antwerp, in recognition of his innovative and cosmopolitan approach of theatre. Lin Huaimin《Coffee and Salt》 LECTURE (CN))

The Artist IntroductionLin Huaimin, a renowned international choreographers in Taiwan. Born in 1947 Yu Jiayi, 14 years old start novels, 22 year old publishing "cicada", issix or seven O in Taipei literary world the great writer. Multimedia Physical Theatre “Haze”

Its a dangerous attempt to choose the chinese haze problem as the subject for our play, which is impending, distinct, complicated and vague, all at once. In this play, we try to build a relationship between the environment and the individual, where people face the haze problem. We want to present their reaction and their anxiety, fear, confusion and hope. There are 2 dimensions which are presented in this play. The dividing line between the real dimension, and the invented one, which is not so clear. Two dimensions are mixing and alternating. The multiple medias, which are important elements and expressing tools on the stage, are frequently used, and sometimes media is the expression. In reality, the media influences us widely and even has the impact for the incident. We doubt whether the truth exists. However, it will not change our determination for searching for the truth. This play is presented in The 5th Beijing Nanluoguxiang Performing Arts Festival , in June, 2014. It will be showed in the Beijing Fringe Festival 2014. Peking Opera “I AM a Nandan”

Throughout the legendary story presented by the play, the audience will have the opportunity to appreciate the fascinating and profound cultural quintessence of the Chinese opera.Excerpts from widely-known plays like The Favorite Concubine Becomes Intoxicated (Guifei zuijiu), The Peony Pavilion (Mudan tin) and Goddess Scatters Flowers (Tiann sanhua) make the opera so vivid and expressively powerful that it grips the audience like a fantasia.The Chinese word, nan, means male, while dan is the generic term for female roles in jingju (Beijing/Peking opera). When used together, the term nandan refers to the male actors who perform female roles in jingju. The nandan are undoubtedly the most mysterious of jingju actors. Many people have great interest in, and are eager to know more about this kind of cross-gender performance. Mou Yuandi, the only young nandan in Shanghai, will lift the veil of mystery surrounding nandan by providing a live introduction to the art, presenting nandan in terms of its historical development and the whole process of training, performance, and makeup. Experimental Short Musical “ War-chariots”

Experimental Music Short Play, A song of war-chariots is a creative art performance work inclusive of art elements such as opera-oriented voice and western band music, string music, percussion music of Chinese traditional opera, structure of western opera, and essence of Chinses Kunqu opera. It is an art form predicated upon music expression. Regarding ideological contents, it makes deep dissection of Chinese and western culture in now days and over the history. It is initiated to adapt to the modern culture on the basis of inheriting the legacy of the past. In the progress of art, the new work gives us more food for thought. The script is based on the recomposition of poetry of Tu Fu. It writes a story from the perspective of a pregnant woman who sends her husband to the army draft with a purpose of revealing the pain and sadness that conscription brings about to the people. Meanwhile the story also tells the positive. Regardless of the hard life and cruelty of reality, people living in that age still see the light at the end of the tunnel. In detail, when the woman sees his husband off, she is thinking about whether his husband is able to return or not. The woman has dialogue with bystanders played by the instrument performers and they air their opinions. Eventually, the woman gives up the hope for his husbands return, but she starts to be worried about the fate of her baby. If the baby is a girl, she can grow up and marry a good neighbor boy. If the baby is a boy, he grows up only to find himself be drafted and then killed and buried in the battlefield. A baby boy or a baby girl, bystanders start to argue and there is no definite answer at the end. At the very last, the question is open to all the audience.

Performed in domestic drama festivals and receiving much attention and praise.Bridging the gap between people, break through barriers. As long as we exist, great efforts will be made unswervingly. Switch and explore between abstraction and concretization, time and space.The purpose of drama is to investigate the distance" between people. Three in the morning as a static moment, is a metaphor about the strong barriers of reality. People hide the self-consciousness in reality, and refuse to dialogue sincerely with the outside world or other people. The men and women in the drama communicate with the help of drama, and hope to close infinitely to the true of their hearts, and to break the bounding for the individual by the distance in real life. Its that sound that is breaking genres. Whatever it is, its exciting, innovative & completely their own. This talent, this sound~wrapped up in sincere wit, charm & energy, coupled with an engaging stage show, has industry insiders & fans alike, sit up and pay attention...close attention. The COMMAND SISTERS have been seen on the Edmonton & Canmore Folk Fest Stages, a nationally televised CBC benefit concert (Johnny Reid, George Canyon), at private parties for Sundance Film Fest, Slamdance Celebrity Party & MTV Movie Awards, Hoot Fest, Hard Rock Cafe & Blue Bird Cafe (3 one hour all-original shows). They were also heard on the Songwriter Stage at Big Valley Jamboree 2012/2013, opened for George Canyon, showcased at CCMAs 2012/2013 (New Artist & Songwriter), Official Folk Alliance 13 showcase, featured on CBC TV Special NEW FACES, awarded Rising Star Award & Artists to Watch Edm Music Awards, HEROES Safe & Caring Award, featured in Guitar World & Acoustic Nation, Yeggie Music Award and are the recent winners of the John Lennon Song Contest (showcase in LA). To keep with whats important & dear to their hearts, the girls continue to sing at Stollery Childrens Hospital & support The Stollery Foundation & Kids Help Phone. Most recently, the Sisters were asked to partner with the RCMP to film an anti bullying video using their song Something To Live For (which will be shown in schools across Canada).
