Contemporary Dance Dance The Monkey King’s EnlightenmentOct.18th - 19th,2014  Duanjun Theatre, STA

Monkey King, a character from classic literature Journey to the West, came to life from stone in the wild and ended up as a saint. In him we can find monstrosity, humanity and divinity all at the same time. The image of him has reflected inner heart of us in modern time. In nature, everyone is acting like a monkey in daily life, both as performer and a bystander. Choreographer Chang Xiaoni uses movements from Peking Opera in a sarcastic way to tell the story of Monkey King's struggle and his epiphany.
