The drama Die Versunkene Glocke was adapted from a German writer’s work finished in 1896. His name is Gerhart Johann Robert Hauptmann. The protagonist called Heinrich in this play is an idealist who is suffering many difficulties, barriers and threatening to pursue a personification of perfection – a clock can bring gospel to people. However, he fails due to an enchantress’s temptation. He lives with that enchantress in a deep forest, and hopes to reach his original goal. Nevertheless, his chase causes the censures from human beings and gods. At the end, after his lover passed away, and all these sufferings, he finally understands the meaning of nature, and creates a choice.
